it's not that bad at all. i've done it.

one word of caution though...vw uses a special tool to put pressure on the pistons inside the caliper with turning it at the same time. most brake pads will just go in with pressure, but vw decided you needed to apply a certain amount of pressure while turning it at the same time.

you can totally make this out of something else, but if you want the genuine vw/audi tool that vw tech's use, they sell it at ECS Tuning ::*OEM / Performance Parts for Volkswagen :: Front*Page

it's really not hard at all...
