Removing emblem from lid:
-open trunk
-take off carpet cover
-unhook electronics
-use torx screw driver to remove the 3 screws holding the emblem on
-push out
Now i dont think there is a diy for this yet but if there is i'm sorry for the repost.
TOOLS:
Flat head screw driver
Phillips head screw driver
knife
3M Scotch brite pads (brushed emblem)
your choice of paint
paiters tape
electric drill
glue
Okay, now that you have your emblem assembly removed you start by taking the two screws out of the back:
Next you CAREFULLY pry the emblem and backing off of the lock mechanism (be careful, you dont want to break anything):
You should now see this in front of you:
Take a drill and screw out the plastic rivets that are holding the chrome "VW" emblem to the backing:
Now that you have the rivets drilled out it is save to carefully pry the logo off of the backing:
I chose to paint the emblem black with color matched tornado red background because I dont like chrome..
Paint backing (if you want to)
Mask lock mechanism and paint it too (optional, but i didnt want that circle sticking out)
Piece back togather: ((The OP had done their emblem to a brushed Alum look))
I ran out ot super glue so i used hot glue instead it should be fine, now you can glue it back togather:
Sand off extra glue:
Screw logo back onto lock mechanism securely
