Arrow Cold Air Intake install (mk4)

You don't have to remove the front bumper, but I found the job to be easier by doing this. I couldn't get the filter down to the wheel well while it was on the CAI, and I didn't have enough room between the cranked wheel and fender to fit the filter and all through and tighten so, so I took off the bumper instead. If you haven't ever done that yet, there's 4 x T25 Torx Screws in each fender liner, 5 x T30 Torx Screws behind the grille, and one T30 behind each of the side vents. Pop the sidemarkers out and undo the bulb holders. Pull bumper forward to remove.

2) You'll need to remove the stock airbox. Disconnect the harness that plugs into the MAF. Then, there's a few 8mm or 10mm bolts holding it down (can't remember which, it's over a year since I installed mine). Remove the plastic hose on the side that comes from the secondary air pump (pain in the ***). Then you'll need to loosen the hose clamp that holds the airbox and MAF to the intake. Pull the MAF and box out of the intake, and then up and out so the inlet pipe on the other side (near the fender) pops off. Remove airbox.

3) Now you'll have to get rid of that pipe that goes from behind your driver-side headlight to where your airbox was. I don't remember exactly how it popped off, but it wasn't difficult. You may also have to remove the piece of plastic that goes behind the headlight, but that depends on how the intake channels down (I had to for my EVOMS).

4) Take the MAF off the airbox (can't remember what Torx it is) and clamp it back to the intake. Make sure you put it on the right way so the arrow that says "Airflow" points toward the intake pipe on the engine. Also align it so the MAF plug goes back in easily.

5) Run the CAI pipe down to the wheel well with the filter off (won't fit otherwise, this is why it was necessary to take the bumper off). Attach the CAI to the fender with a nut that should be provided. Take the piece of silicone tubing that is provided, clamp one end to the end of the CAI, and the other end onto the MAF.

6) Go down to the other end of the CAI and attach the filter.

As far as I can remember, that's pretty much it. Install your bumper back on and fire up the car. It'll take a little while for the car to adjust to the intake. At least mine did. It stalled after the first few starts and threw a CEL, but after I let it idle for a bit and took it for a drive it evened out.
